Gavin Grades The Movies

2013 Oscar Nominations

Well, here they are!  Because I became a father this year, I did miss a couple of these that I really wanted to see.  Regardless, there are some HUGE shockers this year.  The main one is that Leonardo DiCaprio wasn't nominated for Django Unchained.  That is a tragedy and means that he'll never win one.  Another shock was that The Dark Knight Rises rounded out the trilogy of probaby the greatest superhero films ever made and ended with nothing.  At least Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings got some nominations.  I guess that's more snobbery from the Academy.  That's supported more by some other personal wishes for me that didn't come true like great movies like Moonrise Kingdom, Looper and The Avengers getting ignored as well.  I'm also shocked that Tom Hooper didn't get nominated for Best Director for Les Miserables, which seems laughable.  Oh well...

In BOLD are my predictions for winners.  COMMENT below and let me know you're thoughts!
