What's up in Sactown this weekend!
It's gonna be another hot summer weekend around NoCal with temps in the upper 90's, and as always there's plenty of fun things to be checking out around town. Of course everyone's excited about the No Doubt show tonight out at the ampitheater! Paramore and The Sounds open up for Gwen and the boys.
The Sacramento Film & Music Festival kicks off tonight at the Crest Theater. It's a week-long event where you can check out movies made by local filmmakers. Starts at 6:30 tonight, 11:00am Saturday, and Noon on Sunday.
A fun family event called the Ice Cream Safari happens Saturday afternoon at the Zoo beginning at 4:00pm. All you can eat ice cream on a hot day plus all the cool animals, it doesn't get much better than that!
The Music Circus continues their summer season downtown at 15th and H, this weekend showing one of my all time favorite musicals, Guys And Dolls. It's got the famous "Luck Be A Lady" and lots of other great tunes. 8:00 show tonight, two shows Saturday, and finishes off at 7:30pm on Sunday.
Two major movie releases this weekend are G-Force and The Ugly Truth. Katherine Heigl stars in the latter film, which is set in Sacramento of all places! My general rule of thumb is, the more advertising you see for a movie, the worse it is, and that is apparently true again. I've seen TONS of ads for it, probably because it's a big stinkeroo, at least according to several reviews. Remember when romantic comedies used to be, well, romantic? Not anymore. Evidently The Ugly Truth is WAY raunchy, which means that as much as I like Katherine Heigl, I won't be seeing this one.
I hope you all have a great weekend, and I'll talk to you again on Monday. In the meantime, become my friend on Facebook... www.facebook.com/ckontheradio
